Powerful toothed belt axis for keg transport in filling plants

With 700 kegs per hour, a robust and reliable linear axis should be found

Profile

  • What was needed: drylin® ZLW-linear axis, iglidur ® plain bearing, drylin® linear bearing, isense technology for condition monitoring
  • Requirements: The KHS system has a capacity of 700 kegs per hour and therefore required a compact, robust and powerful axis for keg handling. High availability and service life were also required.
  • Sector: Beverage industry
  • Success for the customer: By using a large-dimensioned drylin® ZLW toothed belt axis, it was possible to create a robust system that is valued by KHS customers for its flexibility. The linear axis also copes well with absorbing high lateral forces during keg handling.

Problem

Solution

The systems are stable and robust. Users appreciate their flexibility. The linear axis also copes very well with absorbing the high transverse forces during keg handling.

Figure 1: With the Innokeg AF-C Transversal, KHS has developed an extremely flexible washing and filling system for kegs.

Figure 2: We supplied the two metre long and 126 kilogram linear axis to KHS as a ready-to-install unit.

Image 3: General view of the axis. The gripper units for the kegs weighing up to two times 80 kilograms can be seen at the bottom.

Figure 4: The combination of triple toothed belt drive and double linear guide with drylin® sliding elements can also absorb the high lateral forces required.

Figure 5: An intelligently designed and easy to dismantle locating spigot enables the sliding foils in the housing bearings to be replaced quickly.

Figure 6: The axis of the lifting stations also move lubrication-free with the help of drylin® stainless steel linear bearings.
