Sand and snow

Mirror telescope

This telescope has been installed on the Canary Island of La Palma and registers the gamma rays that strike the earth from outer space. It has a mirror area of 236 m2. The position at an altitude of 2,200 metres necessitates a high degree of robustness of the components used here against high wind speeds, snow and ice, including increased UV radiation. Here igus® e-chains® of several different series are used that meet these requirements in the best possible way.
