iglidur® tribotape® W160
The igus® tribotape® liner is suitable for lining a wide range of surfaces and shapes subject to tribological stress, for optimising transport tasks, for machine beds, etc. With a thickness of only 0.5 - 1mm (including adhesive tape + 0.21mm), the space requirement is very small. The ease of processing - it can be cut with scissors - and the optional self-adhesive tape of the liner allow for almost unlimited applications.
The iglidur® tribotape® liner is also available with self-adhesive tape for quick and easy assembly.
Thanks to its white colour and UV-stabilising additives, the iglidur® W160 tribotape® offers even more design freedom as a visible part.
The original antibacterial version of the iglidur® W160 material is no longer available due to a change in the Biocidal Products Regulation. A new antibacterial version is being developed.
Limits of bonding with adhesive tapes
There are limits to the adhesive strength of the adhesive tape with which this tribotape® is equipped. Unlike structural bonding, a variety of environmental influences can affect the adhesive system and cause the substrates to detach.
High-strength, durable adhesive bonds can generally only be achieved using chemically reactive one- and two-component adhesives. In these cases, adhesives, substrates and the pre-treatment of the substrates must be precisely matched to one another. The variety of possible combinations does not allow us to make specifications or recommendations here.
We expressly point out that the adhesive tape of the igus® tribotape® can only facilitate the assembly and fixation of the tape. Experience has shown that the adhesive strength of the tape decreases over time. igus assumes no liability for a sufficient adhesive system based on the adhesive tape.
